Rainy Day Reflections

It has been raining for the past week in my typically sunshine state of California. That rain has given me some time to reflect and practice some home staging. I thought I would share some of my “random” thoughts and “epiphanies” along the way. I guess one of the most interesting things I’ve learned is the art of photography when it comes to design photos. It takes just as much time staging photos as it does shopping for good pieces!!!
I enjoyed staging my friends home and happy to get some practice in. I found some awesome finds and have some good tips to share.

Nothing like a set dining room table for a dinner party! So first, don’t be afraid to use what you have! Get creative and mix/match your dinner wear and don’t forget your centerpiece. Make sure it sets a bold statement but still allows for all the guest to visually see one another across the table in order to engage in conversation. The center piece above can be found at TJ Maxx for just $25!!  I purchased the table runner from Target for only $15, and it adds a simple touch without needing a table cloth. I personally don’t like table clothes because I believe people purchase tables to be seen and not covered…that’s why a table runner is so awesome.

Next up is the living room. Neutral colors don’t have to be boring and I think is blue is always a nice compliment. What I love most about this decor is I got most of it at…wait for it…Ross! Don’t underestimate a good bargain. The cute serving tray was only $20 and it had very nice detail. I love serving trays not just for decor but it provides a quick clean up when guests are over. Accent pillows also courtesy of Ross and the blue piece of wood wall art is from TJ Maxx.

Last but not least the cuiroior cabinet.

First duty was to actually clean this cabinet out. For many of us we collect dishes on dishes on dishes. It’s just a matter of life events so I encourage you that if it no longer serves a purpose pass it on to friends, family or the donation center. With that being said this cabinet is not just staged but fully functional and ready for daily use.

Until next time have an amazing night everyone!
